Morgan Holt – Principal

Miss Morgan started training in dance at the age of four, following in her sisters footsteps.

From a young age Morgan focused on ballet, which led her to winning numerous championships Australia wide, high placings in the RAD scholarships, exceptional marks in her RAD exams and being accepted into the Australian Ballet Interstate Program.

As Morgan’s love of dance grew, she moved into learning different styles which gained her a place at Urban Dance Centre to study full-time. Whilst studying, Morgan found work teaching, working for Ubisoft and games such as Just Dance & Abba, photoshoots for BLOCH, Mercedes Benz & Dancetrain Magazine. From here Morgan gained a place as a Principal dancer in the contemporary company LOcREaDO, assistant to Jason Winters, choreographed for numerous events (Mercedes Benz & Fashion Palette), performed on TV shows Everybody Dance Now & the movie Dance Academy, finalist in Australian Dance Festivals “Dance around the world”, then appeared in various music videos for Australian Artists as well as being signed to Grayboy the agency.

Morgan, age 19 then received her first contract overseas for Princess Cruise Lines. Touring the world for several years, Morgan was then offered a land based contract in Dubai as a Dance Captain/Aerialist in the Pacha Dinner Show. Her most recent contract was a 15 month stint at Tokyo Disney in the show ‘One Man’s Dream II’.

Morgan has now permanently moved back to Australia and is excited and focused on training new and upcoming talent.

As of Term 2, 2021. Morgan has taken over as the Principal of DanceWorks Nowra. Morgan is so excited to bring her training and expertise to the Dancers of Nowra, and to mentor them through their years.

Shannon Standen – Dance Teacher

Miss Shannon is a Registered Physiotherapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA) and member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA). While studying for her Master of Physiotherapy at the University of Canberra ACT, she six times won the Deans excellence award for Academic Achievement.

She is also a qualified Pilates Matt Instructor with the Australian Physiotherapy Pilates Institute and Qualified Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Ballet teacher. She has eight years of experience in preparing and entering students for RAD examinations, both grades and vocational levels from tiny tots to Advanced 2 Ballet. As the fundamental principles and technique that form both excellent Ballet Syllabi is universal, we look forward to Miss Shannon sharing her vast her dance teaching experience with us.

In addition to over ten years of experience in teaching Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical, Tap and Cheerleading for Performance Teams and Soloists, her background in physiotherapy, gives her a particular interest in assessing and correcting dance biomechanics including pre-pointe assessments and dance injury prevention.

Hannah Macleanan – Dance Teacher

Miss Hannah is a Professional Dancer with 10 years of experience in the working industry and over 5 years teaching between contracts. At an early age, she began training under the direction of Linda Shaw in RAD Classical Ballet, Lyrical/Contemporary and Jazz. Hannah completed her RAD Examinations from Pre Primary to Advanced 2 with High Distinctions before continuing her classical/contemporary training full-time at Brent Street under the direction of Jason Winters and gaining a Diploma in Elite Performance.
 
Hannah soon began working internationally at Universal Studios Japan as a Beauxbaton Dancer for ‘The Wizarding World of Harry Potter’ and in Palazzo Germany as a Showgirl. Before continuing her career with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines for the next 6 years as a Featured Dancer, Aerialist and Aqua dancer on board, Freedom, Quantum and Allure of the Seas. 
 
After returning home and transitioning into teaching, Hannah looks forward to working with dedicated and hard-working dancers, hoping to inspire and mentor them for their future endeavours. 

Miss Sara started her dance training at the early age of 3 years old. With 15 years of experience, Miss Sara has trained across all dance styles and has developed a real love of Jazz & Hip Hop.

As an original member of the DanceWorks family, Miss Sara has completed numerous exams in the ATOD Syllabus, represented DanceWorks as a member of the Competition Team, danced in the Regional & State Dance Festivals with Nowra High School, completed her HSC, and is currently studying a Bachelor of Exercise Science at the University of Wollongong.

In Miss Sara’s later years of training, she developed a real interest in teaching, after several months of training and assistant teaching, Miss Sara lead her first class. With 15 years of dance experience and 12 months of teaching, Miss Sara has shown real promise and dedication to her art form.

In 2021, Miss Sara also submitted her first class of students through their ATOD Jazz exams, and all students passed with flying colours.

Miss Sara is warm and welcoming, passionate and hardworking, kind, and is adored by the DanceWorks students and faculty.

Susan Graham – Ballet Teacher

Miss Susan joined the DanceWorks faculty in 2023 and absolutely loves sharing her experience and knowledge with her students.

Miss Susan has 20+ years of experience as a professional dancer in Australia, and internationally in Japan and Hong Kong. Miss Susans’ career includes Jesus Christ Superstar, Pippen, Roberta, Mame and My Fair Lady where Susan worked with Shirley Bassey, Sammy Davis Junior, John Farnham, John English, Marcia Hines, Jackie Weaver, Phil Silvers and Robert Goblet, just to name a few.

Susan has made numerous TV appearances on Bandstand, The Don Lane Show, The Tommy Leonetti Show, The Mike Walsh Show, The Mo Awards and many TV commercials. Susan was also the Principal of The Farrell Academy of Dance for 34 years, and Ballet Mistress at Dance Network for 4 years, achieving excellent results in Classical Ballet RAD, Contemporary, Lyrical, Jazz, Musical Theatre, Drama, Tap and Eisteddfods. Susans Choreography credits include the pantomimes Peter Pan, The Wizard of Oz, Oliver and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Miss Nicole joined the DanceWorks faculty after returning to Australia from a five-year teaching contract with the International School System in Cairo, Egypt and Thailand.

As a teenager Miss Nicole was a student of the Wollongong Performing Arts High School, adding HCS dance and drama to her already achievements in extracurricular Ballet, Tap, Jazz Contemporary and Lyrical. 

After graduating from the University of New South Wales with a Bachelor of Arts (Dance)/ Bachelor of Education she worked within primary schools in Sydney teaching their dance program. This gave her the incentive to develop her own educational movement programme, which she offered and successfully taught in Day Care Centres and Kindergartens in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney.

DanceWorks youngest students have been receiving the benefits of Miss Nicole’s unique Early Childhood Movement and Dance Programme for the past five years. She offers our students the best possible foundation for their future years of dance training and we are exceptionally lucky to have her here in Nowra.

Melinda Bolton – Dance Teacher

Miss Mel began dancing at the age of 3 and studied ballet, tap, and jazz under the British Ballet Organisation method. Mel continued her dance studies throughout her teens and into early adulthood and during this period, began teaching at the Berry Dance and Performing Arts Studio.

Mel is a qualified and accredited primary teacher and Registered Psychologist and following a hiatus from teaching dance, returned in 2016 to take a teaching position at SCIPA where she has taken classes across genres and age ranges in both recreational and exam streams, worked with competition troupes and solo students. Miss Mel still regularly performs in the Stars Dance for Cancer event as well as choreographing and producing dance items for local Department of Education school festivals.

Miss Mel has a passion for nurturing a love of dance, encouraging physical and emotional expression through dance, and instilling confidence in all of her students, regardless of their age or ability.

Madeleine High – Dance Teacher

Miss Madeleine is a contemporary dance artist and teacher. After finishing her training at SCIPA School of Dance in 2013, she began her teaching practise in 2014 under the guidance of Nirvana James-Ricci. Madeleine has since continued to share her various experiences as part of the school’s contemporary stream, as well as at other local dance schools including Joanne Grace School of Dance.

Madeleine worked extensively with Austinmer Dance Theatre during 2014-2018, under the direction of Michelle Maxwell. There, she took part in creative processes with internationally renowned choreographers including Ashley Wright, Sagi Gross, Maurice Causey, and Rhiannon Davies; locally and as part of various Fringe Festivals across Australia. 

Madeleine was a resident dancer in Shanghai for Metamorphosis International Residency, with Iratxe Ansa and Igor Bacovich during 2017. There, she performed in Long Museum, Power Station of Art, and Shanghai International Dance Centre Theatre alongside their resident company dancers. Prior to this, Madeleine trained with Ansa andBacovich in Mexico City, June 2016 performing at Teatro de la Ciudad.

More recently, Madeleine has worked with Kit Reilly and Chelsea DesLauriers on ‘Utopia #9’ in New Zealand. Developing the work in May 2019 with Oliver Carruthers, later premiering at Tempo Dance Festival in Auckland, and as part of New Zealand Fringe Festival, Wellington (2020). Madeleine is currently part of Proper Motion, led by Lisa Maris McDonnell. She performed in two seasons of the work ‘Optimal Stopping’ during 2023, initially as part of Wollongong’s MerringongX in April, and later in Mexico City in the Festival Internacional de Danza Contemporánea in August, alongside Mexico’s La Infinita Compania. Madeleine also worked with choreographer Raúl Tamez during this time, performing his work created on Proper Motion, ‘Kauyumari’.

Abbie Haughton – Dance Teacher

Miss Abbie started her dance training at the early age of 4 years old. With 14 years of experience, Miss Abbie has trained across all dance styles and has developed a real love of Ballet and Contemporary.

As an original member of the DanceWorks family, Miss Abbie has completed numerous exams in the ATOD Syllabus and represented DanceWorks as a member of the Competition Team for several years.

In Miss Abbie’s later years of training, she developed a real interest in teaching and began assistant teaching Tap and Musical Theatre classes, before assisting in all styles.

With 14 years of dance experience and 2 years of assistant teaching/teacher training, Miss Abbie has shown real promise and dedication to her art form. In 2023, Miss Abbie entered students in their ATOD Jazz exams, where they received incredible resutls. Two even receiving 100/100!

Miss Abbie is kind and patient, passionate and hardworking, and is adored by the DanceWorks students and faculty.

Miss Abbie enjoys watching students grow and improve, and guiding them on their own dance journey, especially our youngest troupe members.

Miss Abbie has completed her HSC and is currently studying Archaeology and Ancient History at the University of Wollongong. Miss Abbie is also currently an SLSO at a Primary school in Nowra.

We can’t wait for Miss Abbie to take on more classes with us and to educate the next generation of dancers!

Jessica Trost – Dance Teacher

Miss Jess started her dance training at the early age of 3. Throughout Miss Jess’s 15 years of experience, she has trained in multiple dance styles and developed a real passion for Tap.

As an original member of the DanceWorks Family, Miss Jess has completed her ATOD Exams up to Elementary Level, where she received an Honours Plus, and represented DanceWorks as a Competition Team Member and Soloist. Miss Jess has participated in the ATOD state Championships, placed in the Top 3 for her age group at Evolution Dance Competition and placed 2nd at Evolution’s National Competition in 2020.

In the past few years, Miss Jess began assistant teaching and has found a real love for it. Miss Jess is currently studying a Certificate III in Assistant Dance Teaching through ATOD to further her education as she transitions into a Teaching role. Miss Jess is also studying a Bachelor of Health and Physical Education at the University of Wollongong with the prospect of becoming a Secondary P.E Teacher.

Miss Jess aims to share her love of dance with aspiring students and wishes to guide them in finding their own love of dance, no matter which path or genre they may take

Tori Bilsborough – Dance Teacher

Certified Acrobatic Arts Teacher

Miss Tori started dancing at SCIPA When she was 11 years old and loved it so much, that she enrolled straight into Troupe & Solos, and started participating in every class she could. Tori had a real passion for performing, and also became a part of the Performance Company at Nowra High School, through her schooling years.

Tori is an accredited Acrobatic Arts Teacher with a background in Gymnastics, having competed for SCYC gymnasium before dance. Tori has also trained in the styles of Ballet, Lyrical, Contemporary, Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap, and Acro.

Tori began assistant teaching in 2018 with one Jazz class, then from here, years onwards, she gained more assistant and teaching opportunities with SCIPA. Once Tori finished school, she began to apply for every teaching opportunity she could to get as much experience as possible. Tori has now been a teacher at many different schools from Ulladulla to Thirroul and has experience in all age groups and many styles, including Performance Teams, Competition and Recreational Solo’s, Technique/Acro Privates and much more!

Tori has a real passion for Acrobatics. She is passionate about teaching the correct technique for tumbling and reducing unnecessary strain on the body whilst practising skills.

Miss Tori is so excited to help our dancers grow and smash their goals!

Tara Rumble – Dance Teacher

Miss Tara started her dance training in Berry at the early age of 3. With over 16 years of dance experience, Miss Tara has danced across all dance styles and has developed a true passion for Hip Hop and Jazz. Since joining DanceWorks in 2015, Miss Tara has grown her training in all aspects of dance. From completing ATOD exams at a high level, to representing DanceWorks as a member of the Competition Team and Soloist, and also receiving Scholarships and Awards through-out her years.

Miss Tara’s passion for dance has driven her back into the studio to teach the next generation of dancers. At the moment, Miss Tara is looking forward to taking her dance teaching role further, and completing a Certification to advance her career.

Miss Tara’s ambition is to share her passion for dance with her students, and to help guide them on their dance journey.

In Miss Sara’s later years of training, she developed a real interest in teaching, after several months of training and assistant teaching, Miss Sara lead her first class. With 15 years of dance experience and 12 months of teaching, Miss Sara has shown real promise and dedication to her art form.

In 2021, Miss Sara also submitted her first class of students through their ATOD Jazz exams, and all students passed with flying colours.

Hannah Lucas – Dance Teacher

Miss Hannah started dancing at the ripe age of 6. She was always so full of energy and would constantly be dancing around the house when music was on. She was enrolled into a studio in Wollongong, and then upon moving house, she moved to a studio in Kiama/ Shellharbour, which became her second home. She learnt all genres and styles of dance but has always had a deep passion for jazz in all forms: broadway, technical and commercial.

At this studio, she started teaching at 14, being an assistant teacher and progressed from there. She was teaching consistently at the same time as studying for her degree. Hannah completed a Bachelor of Physical Education at UOW in 2017 and then completed a further year of study at ACPE to receive her Dance Education credentials.

Since 2020, Hannah has conducted the Dance & Drama program at one of our local high schools, Nowra. This really opened her connections up with the community as she ventured into the musical theatre realm, choreographing two local shows – Chicago & Heathers. She fell in love with musical theatre, co-directing and choreographing NHS’s School of Rock in 2023 and then being cast in SoPopera’s Production of Strictly Ballroom as an ensemble member.

Hannah is relatively new to the studio but cannot wait to be a part of the DanceWorks family and share some of her energy.

Olivia Di Pietro – Dance Teacher

Miss Olivia started training in the BBO Ballet syllabus at the age of 5 in England. She grew to love it and found it was a strength of hers, which she continued her training at different schools in Perth and in Berry. When she was 12, she attended the National Capital Ballet School in Canberra, where there was a large emphasis on discipline, technique and professionalism. This is where she also gained experience in RAD and Cecchetti.

She then ventured into other styles in her late teens and early 20s, including Hip Hop, West African dance, Capoeira, improvisation and conscious dance, as well as pole dancing. In her early 20s, Olivia taught Ballet, Jazz and Tap under the ATOD syllabus to students aged 2 to 18 years. At this stage, she discovered and developed her passion for teaching adults and supporting them to build their confidence and to challenge themselves through exploring movement. She has taught adults (and also teens) on and off over the past several years.

Miss Olivia is a Social Worker during the week, which she loves, but also loves to dance as a creative, fun and challenging outlet in her spare time.

Tenneil Withers – Dance Teacher

Miss Tenneil’s passion for dance and performing started at the age of 13 in High School, where she was encouraged and nurtured to explore the world of Dance.Tenneil has extensive experience in choreography and dance education, including being commissioned to write a Kindergarten to Year 6 Dance Program and taught in local schools through her previous business “We Can Dance”, choreographed for Dance Festival, travelled as a guest teacher, choreographed for musicals within schools, teacher for “Stars of Nowra”, and has worked with all abilities throughout the Shoalhaven.

There have been many achievements and experiences, but one that truly fills Tenneil’s heart is being heavily involved with the Albatross Musical Theatre Company, in which she has choreographed for 12 Musicals and performed in many of the shows as well.

Tenneil loves to teach and share the epic stories of Musical Theatre through dance and to see her students grow, explore, feel challenged and feel the joy of Musical Theatre.

Maddison Duff – Dance Teacher

Miss Maddi started her dance training at 5 years old in Perth, Western Australia.

With 18 years of experience, Miss Maddi has trained across all dance styles, with special interests in Aerial Silks, Lyra and Acrobatics, as well as Jazz, Tap, Lyrical and Ballet.

Having started dance at a young age, Miss Maddi has completed numerous exams in the ATOD Syllabus, completing her Elementary Jazz Exams in 2017, as well as Gold Star Ballet and Tap. Miss Maddi was heavily involved in her school’s dance program, being the Dance Captain between 2018 and 2019, as well as competing in numerous dance competitions throughout her schooling years.

Miss Maddi has been Assistant Dance Teaching since the age of 12, transitioning to a Senior Teacher at 17 in 2019. Miss Maddi has submitted numerous students through the ATOD Syllabus exams in both Jazz and Tap, with many achieving Honours and Honours Plus results.
Miss Maddi has also completed extensive training in Dance Cirque Aerial Silks and Lyra, with a Certification in Dance Cirque rigging and Teaching, and being the Program Director for Circus at her previous school in WA. Miss Maddi has taught students from 2 years old through to Adults.
